About Lisa Dinhofer
I am a New Yorker. Born in Brooklyn, NY, I am a product of the NYC public school system. I left the city for college. I went to Brandeis University were I studied art, art history and literature and graduated with a B.A., Magna Cum Laude with honors in Painting. On to graduate school and an M.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. I studied with Neil Welliver, Paul Georges and Yvonne Jacquette. The gritty urban experience has molded me but occasionally I've managed to escape to the country through various grants including Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo and Ucross artist colonies. My work has been consistently exhibited in museum and gallery shows, starting with Jill Kornblee Gallery in the late 1970s. Today, I am represented by Denise Bibro Fine Art in the Chelsea section of New York City. In 2001, I was awarded a significant commission from MTA, Arts for Transit. Completed in 2003, it is a 90 ft, glass mosaic mural consisting of 5 walls on the mezzanine of the 42nd and 8th Avenue subway station (at the Port Authority).
