The Muhlenberg Achieves program was developed to promote postsecondary success for the citizens of Muhlenberg County. In my role as Program Manager, I have grown this program into a multi-faceted position where I have recruited a new Coordinator to lead a new middle school iniative similar to what we use at the high school level.

I assisted Adult Education students and GED-seeking students in transitioning from the GED/non-traditional program to traditional college or to the workforce with appropriate certification. As part of this position, I also recruited students into this program and helped educate the local community on the programs offered by the Adult Education program. Once recruited, retention became the focus of my job...ensuring all barriers to student success were removed or addressed before they became a stumbling block.

Owned and operated a small business that was started with a small sum of $3500 and I grew to sales of over $150,000 in under 5 years and also cut overhead costs by 11% during that time. Developed relationships and partnerships throughout the community including being a relevant member of the Chamber of Commerce for all 5 years; spear-headed fundraisers for Humane Society, Central City Elementary FRYSC back to school supplies, Christmas tree and more.

Designed and implemented lesson plans for 10th through 12th grade English classes; developed and delivered web-based instruction including the use of a smartboard and a mobile lab; worked on a team to disaggregate data from state assessment; worked as a member of the scheduling committee, the budget committee, and was a pioneer member of the Thoughtful Education team which developed the Thoughtful Ed. program throughout the area, a program that changed the way students were taught and assessed throughout the state.
