Designed nutrition and culinary education program specific to women in substance use recovery according to trauma-informed evidence-based nutrition practices under the supervision of Julie Lanford, MPH, RDN, CSO, LDN. Plan and lead monthly nutrition and cooking classes at The YWCA Hawley House, including testing and modifying recipes and altering education content for the classes. Create targeted nutrition education materials for various client populations, such as nutrition for healing in substance use recovery, food safety 101, nutrition SMART goals, how to read a nutrition label, and two-week meal plans with meal prep and shopping tips. Created Excel pivot tables and summary matrix to analyze program outcomes at fiscal year-end for organizational outreach programs based upon United Way funding requirements.

Performed nutrition screening to identify patients at nutritional risk and utilized the nutrition care process (NCP) to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for patients in the neonatal ICU, surgical ICU, medical ICU, burn/trauma ICU, and surgical oncology areas of the hospital. Formulated nutrition recommendations for patients through oral, supplemental, enteral, and parenteral nutrition interventions. Performed nutrition-focused physical exams (NFPEs) on patients to evaluate the risk for malnutrition. Provided patient education to patients and their families on therapeutic diets such as the renal diet, the heart-healthy diet, and the consistent carbohydrate diet, based upon unique patient needs.
