The Associated Master Painters and Decorators of Philadelphia (AMPD) was established in Philadelphia, PA in the spring of 1937. Membership in the AMPD includes painting contractors and other contractors in related fields. The association participates in national conventions, including the PDCA, along with our labor/management counterparts, the LMCI.The AMPD has always recognized the value of education and offers several programs for the benefit of painting and decorating contractors, and the entire construction industry. The association is responsible for our industry advancement fund, IAP, and initiates programs that include safety education, mechanic training, legislative updates and all elements of business management. The AMPD is also proud to offer the Craig Tiedeken Scholarship Fund. This program offers financial aid to qualified college students whose parents are employed with District Council 21 employers contributing to the industry advancement (IAP) fund.

Teach Oral Communications course to 2nd year apprentices. Course applies public/oral communication theories to real world scenarios that might present themselves to glaziers - including but not limited to OSHA testimony, toolbox talks, pitch meetings, and running work.

Provide executive ledership for AGMA, a construction trade organization of 40+ union glazing contractors working in Southeastern, PA, Southern NJ and the Upper Eastern Shore of MD. Responsibilities include:0 Communicate AGMA beliefs, needs, and priorities to members, businesses and community leders in person and via online media to enhance AGMA reputation.0 Actively participate in industry and professional construction management and union associations0 Maintain positive relationships with labor partners; encourage equitable and creative solutions to issues including, but no limited to, manpower, jurisdiction, and work rules.0 Negotiate Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Glaziers Local Union 252.0 Execute member programming from idea generation through post-event analysis.0 Anticipate member needs and implement programs based on those needs.0 Work with state legislators on small-business legislation.0 Manage all financial obligations, including drafting and executing annual budget.0 Work closely with investment partners to oversee $1M in investments. Oversaw all communications for the Connections for Cardiovascular Health (CCH) program, which provided grants for charitable work to improve health at the community level. Highlights:0 Served as liaison between community organizations and local media.0 Wrote and produced the first CCH annual report. 0 Organized press conferences within multiple media markets, working with both local non-profits and local media contacts to garner coverage.

The quarterly magazine covers topics of interest for members of the A/E/C community as well as developers, interior designers, legislators, educators and building owners.Responsibilities included design, copywriting, proofreading and maintaining a targeted subscription list. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS• 2011 recipient of the AIA Lewis Mumford Award for Architectural Journalism.• Improved design and content of CONSTRUCTION TODAY® resulting in a 35% subscription increase. Implemented strategies to maintain advertisers. Secured first national advertiser.
