Latin /French Teacher Technology Integrator
Certified in Elementary Education and French, grades K12 in the state of Florida. Master’s degree in Elementary Education K-8, experience in the classroom from PreK to Grade 12. In addition to having been a middle school French and Latin teacher for grades six through eight, I have also taught French online to school students in grades K-8 through Middlebury College’s online language program, “Middlebury Interactive”. I designed the PreK-5 curriculum for Clerisy Academy for Gifted children where I also taught PreK. The fact that I understand pedagogy in the K-12 setting has allowed me to integrate technology into the curriculum that is both interesting and relevant for students. In 2011, I was selected as one of only twenty K12 educators from around the world to join the NMC . This honor to become a “K12 NMC Ambassador” was awarded for a video highlighting my successful efforts to integrate technology in my classroom. I was featured on the NAIS Innovation Lab website for the “MYP Design Cycle Engineering Model” project. Students created and printed a 3D Parthenon based on architectural mathematics. A $16,000 grant from Hewlett Packard was awarded to me in recognition for a Professional Development course, which I wrote and taught online, geared towards “STEAM teachers” on the topic of creating a website to encourage philanthropic work with students. I have been nominated for the Palm Beach County Dwyer Excellence in Teaching Award, and have received the FAU Alumni Educator Award, the Patten Award for innovation and excellence in teaching and the Janusz Korczak Award in recognition for exemplary kindness towards students. Notwithstanding all of these accolades, my specialty remains project based learning and relevant technology integration in the classroom. I am creative and am able to design age appropriate lessons using technology, which are pedagogically sound.
