At BMC earlier 1993-2001 (8 years), where I was a Product Author, my focus was on replicating changed data from non-relational systems to relational systems. My piece was the "Transformer", which "flattened" the non-relational hierarchical or network data and COBOL repeating groups into the target relational table format, and also transformed the non-relational "datatypes" (so to speak) into relational datatypes. I was promoted to Director of the Server Software Development Group. My interest in investing and finance allowed me to easily understand the problems that the customers were trying to solve with the LIM software. LIM was later acquired by Morningstar.At PROS (2 years), I worked again with database systems, which were tightly integrated with the software. The software is completely data-driven by relational table-data and XML-data. My minor in accounting came into use at PROS, to enable me to readily understand the problems of the customers who were performing price/revenue optimization.
