I spend a lot of my time listening to those living in and serving underserved communities. This information helps to understand and influence health policy, healthcare strategies, interventions and social drivers of health.My public health training began at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer (EIS), where I ultimately served as a global public health diplomat. I have broad experience across the health sector including serving as a state Medicaid Chief Medical Officer. My research and interests include digital health, health communication, qualitative data collection to understand health drivers and health care engagement in underserved populations. I am passionate about bridging communication and relationships between the medical/scientific community and the public and serve as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Roundtable on Health Literacy.
