Lisa Pryor spent the first 15 years of her career as an educator for both elementary and middle school students. In the education setting, Lisa served primarily as both a physical education and health teacher. Her health classes acted as "life class," to guide students in determining who they are, why, and who they want to be moving forward. These same questions still serve as her guide into transitioning and moving forward in her own life.In her role as the Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at The Orchard School, her focus is centered on coaching students, faculty and staff, and families through the complexities of DEI work to create the most welcoming and inclusive environment possible for the school community. She brings with her a decade long journey focusing on leadership around DEI work, which includes training through the Diversity Leadership Institute hosted by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Lisa was also a co-chair for the NAIS People of Color Conference in 2014 and a Black/African-American Affinity Group leader for four years at the same conference. She was a member of the NAIS Call to Action, a think-tank focused on moving the work of DEI forward in Independent Schools. Lisa is trained in the Art of Participatory Leadership and has led workshops on platforms ranging from students, school communities, regional, and national conferences. Lisa also owns her own life coaching business, Use Your Light, LLC, where she serves as a peak performance coach for the mind, heart, and soul. Her life coaching and leadership training through Accomplishment Coaching brings a fresh perspective towards development around DEI work that both individuals and institutions can use on their own identity journey. Lisa also works with athletes and coaches to create the career and life of their dreams! She brings her Essence of Leader, Heart, Wisdom, Beauty, and Nurture to each coaching session and workshop, while guiding clients to uncover and move towards their own dreams, ambitions, and aspirations. Lisa enjoys being active. She is a former collegiate basketball player for Butler University and is still actively engaged in playing. She also enjoys playing kickball, working out, and riding her bike on the Cultural Trail. She has been a basketball, soccer, and softball coach for the past 10 years and appreciates the ability to assist young people in developing their skill sets. Lisa and her mini golden doodle, Zuri, live in Indianapolis, IN.
