Project Manager / Data Architect - Data MigrationPowerschool Group Llc May 2017 - Jul 2020Folsom, Ca, UsManage data migrations resulting from acquisitions into a single existing Salesforce instance utilizing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL). Have assumed the role of Technical Project Manager and Data Architect. Built and maintained strong relationships with subject matter experts in the acquired companies, members of Operations teams, and consultants. Data migration projects average six months in length and are broken into phases. Following an agile methodology, work within each phase consisting of: identifying source systems and objects; defining the scope of records to migrate from each object; mapping source system fields to target system fields; specifying transformation rules to perform on data from the source system; creating new custom fields in the target system as needed; and writing scripts to perform the migration. Each phase includes at least three User Acceptance Testing sessions where migration scripts are executed in a sandbox environment and validated for adherence to requirements.Facilitate scope definition and field mapping from multiple source systems including Salesforce, MS Dynamics, and Zendesk. Use SQL to conduct complex analysis of results throughout the project lifecycle to identify patterns and locate issues not easily detected by traditional user testing, which results in faster progress, greater accuracy, and lower project costs. To date, have successfully completed five migration projects with the most recent ending 35% under budget.Key Accomplishments and Achievements• The source system for one data migration was a highly-customized Microsoft Dynamics system with no documentation and no available resources with knowledge of the database. Through reviewing the schema, using SQL to query the data and understand the relationships, and referencing documentation for standard Dynamics implementations, was able to reverse-engineer the database. -
