Responsible for setting strategy to raise the profile of the City's Department of Neighborhood Development, a $75m, 150-person City agency responsible for:- Economic development through small business innovation- Disposition and management of City-owned property- Setting housing policy for the City of Boston- Funding the creation of affordable housing- Assisting current and prospective homeownersMember of the agency's Executive Team, reporting to the Director and Chief of Housing.Accomplishments include:- Led the on the ground communications efforts around the re-opening of Boylston Street following the Marathon Bombings; - Collaborated with colleagues to produce Boston 2030, a plan to build 53,000 units of housing in the City of Boston. The report received coverage from all major networks and a front-page, above the fold story in both the Boston Globe and Banker + Tradesman, and appeared in several national trade publications;- Active member of City of Boston Social Liaison team; nearly doubled DND's Twitter followers in under a year. Our "We are CDBG" campaign won the Sasso Award - national recognition for government communication - from the National Association for Community Development;- Collaborated with colleagues on preparing for a Mayoral transition, including delivering a comprehensive transition document; researching Mayor-elect's campaign coverage to develop a communications plan matching his agenda; and setting internal strategy to prepare for a new administration

Mayor Walsh gave me the incredible charge to lead and pull together the communications efforts of the City of Boston during his first 100 days in office. It was a fantastic experienceAs a veteran member of senior leadership team, I assisted the new administration in outlining their priorities for communications, and helped new leadership understand the workings of City agencies.I offered strategic communications guidance on issues and events including the Beacon Street fire -- the first crisis of the administration; the first Boston Marathon after attacks of 2013; and the first successful labor negotiations of the administration I helped build the administration's communications function, including hiring of public information officers in City’s major agencies and the Mayor's Press Office, and led City-wide team of more than 20 Public Information Officers.

In nearly nine years with Denterlein, I counseled C-level executives and their senior leaders in developing sophisticated communications strategies that embraced internal communications, social media, thought leadership, business development, media relations, and relationship brokering. Having worked for a company that stands at the intersection of business, policy, and communications, I have established excellent client relationships with many of the institutions that drive New England's agenda, with a focus on healthcare, human services, and education, and diligently work to maintain these relationships. As a member of Denterlein's Executive Committee, I helped plot the course of our company, working with leadership on HR issues, branding and marketing of the firm, and business development.I helped captain Denterlein's forays into new media, helping clients understand and embrace the strategies of establishing a meaningful online presence.In every client engagement, I worked to help organizations take the broad view of how they fit into the greater community, the need to utilize previously-underutilized methods of communications like social and ethnic media, and the ability to ensure that clients’ communications goals effectively match – and provide return for – their business goals.

Prior to joining Denterlein Worldwide, I was proud to serve as the Senior Media Liaison for Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, where I had the opportunity to help shape and deliver the Menino administration's message through the Democratic National Convention, several election cycles, and the crisis of September 11, 2001.As part of my responsibilities, I served as media liaison for Intergovernmental Affairs, handling media at all levels of government from the municipal to the federal level. I designed and executed the media strategy surrounding the establishment of the Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and several important court cases won by the City of Boston — including the eleventh-hour order to the BPPA to open expedited contract arbitration immediately preceding the DNC. During Mayor Menino's tenure as President of the US Conference of Mayors, I secured national coverage of the mayor's agenda for protecting the economic stability of American working families.
