Advocate for children with developmental disabilities. Prepared requests for Supplements to the Dual Agency rate for dual agency children receiving either Aid to Families with Dependent Children-Foster Care or Adoption Assistance Program benefits.

Assessed cases for legal sufficiency for the purpose of charging crimes. Researched case law relative to the preparation and presentation of cases.

Represented the DA in twenty-five preliminary hearings. All twenty-five defendants were held to answer. Assisted the courtroom DA with administrative tasks including calendar management and witness check-in.

Represented the CA in proceedings against defendants charged with various misdemeanor offenses including illegal vending. Participated in the Los Angeles Anti-Piracy and Counterfeit task force. Developed strategies for dealing with community problems in conjunction with other branches of the City Attorney’s Office, the Los Angeles Unified School District, local Law Enforcement, and private industry.

Represented the CA in proceedings against gang members charged with various misdemeanor offenses. Drafted and edited legal writings, including opposition to motions to suppress, motions to consolidate, motions to include defendant’s statements, and trial briefs. Interviewed witnesses and local law enforcement for the purpose of obtaining information relative to the preparation and presentation of cases.

Reviewed motions, researched relevant case law, prepared summaries of legal arguments, and prepared initial drafts of court rulings. Drafted decision on writ of habeas corpus in murder case.

Developed and implemented conflict resolution and peer mediation programs at Los Angeles high schools. Established and designed service based programs for at-risk youth, including the Kaiser Preventative Health Clinic at Verdugo Hills High School. Conducted professional workshops in mediation and conflict resolution for educators and other community based programs. Analyzed and evaluated current conditions of Los Angeles area high schools with respect to truancy, gang involvement and violence; drafted and presented recommendations to individual high schools, the Los Angeles Unified School Board and the Los Angeles City Council. Collaborated with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, the Los Angeles Superior Court, and the Los Angeles Police Department in drafting Truancy Intervention and Prevention Programs for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
