My clients have included the UN Environment Programme, the International Renewable Energy Agency, the World Bank / IFC, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, REN21, OneEarth Living, Germany's GIZ, the World Resources Institute, and Generation180, among others. Much of my professional experience has focused on efforts to raise the profile of sustainable consumption in the United States and globally. I served for nearly a decade as director of communications and later senior editor at the Center for a New American Dream, and currently serve as a senior associate at OneEarth Living (www.oneearthliving.org), where I provide strategy support to an international, interdisciplinary research team focused on advancing one-planet lifestyles.Previously, I spent nearly two decades as a researcher and later senior editor at the Worldwatch Institute, "one of the world's most influential environmental think tanks." As a member of Worldwatch's team of experts, I synthesized complex scientific data and policy materials into accessible information for decision makers, the media, educators, and the general public. I gave frequent media interviews, participated in international conferences, and was invited by the U.S. State Department on a week-long speaking tour of New Zealand. I later served as editor of Worldwatch's annual State of the World report and monograph series, distributed globally in dozens of languages.
