Research Analyst, Transportation And Climate Change Policy

Chicago, Illinois, Us

While at Chicago ’s Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT), I spent more than three years as a research analyst supporting the organization’s various urban sustainability programs, with an emphasis on transportation and climate change research and project implementation. For example, I managed a project for the Transportation Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) examining the linkages between transportation and climate change. For this two-year project, I contributed to a TCRP report discussing key strategies for reducing transportation emissions through the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and fuels in transit fleets, and co-developed an on-line greenhouse gas emissions calculator to educate the community on the environmental impacts of personal transportation choices. In addition to transportation research, I worked extensively with building engineers and architects while applying CNT’s renovated, 2-story office building (formerly a textile warehouse) for LEED Platinum status. During this time, I developed content for and led monthly tours to architect students and community members, highlighting the benefits associated with building in dense, urban environments, including improved transit access and innovative alternatives to single-occupant vehicle commuting such as car-sharing and casual carpool.
