Dr. Meeks holds the position of Associate Professor of Learning Health Sciences and Family Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. In her capacity as an administrative leader, researcher, and individual with a disability, she plays a crucial role in shaping policy and best practices related to disability inclusion in medical education, training, and practice.Her research pursuits revolve around key areas such as enhancing access to medical education for learners with disabilities, fostering the well-being of medical students and residents, and investigating the performance and trajectories of learners and physicians with disabilities. Driven by a commitment to improving access and equity for learners and patients with disabilities, as well as individuals with marginalized identities, her overarching goal is to promote diversity and well-being within the healthcare workforce.Collaborating with leading health science and graduate programs, national organizations, and media outlets, Dr. Meeks actively raises awareness and provides guidance on disability-related issues. She co-creates and co-hosts various platforms and resources to share the lived experiences and perspectives of physicians and learners with disabilities.Dr. Meeks is the editor and author of the leading books in the field, including "Disability as Diversity" and the second edition of "Equal Access for Students with Disabilities: The Guide for Health Science and Professional Education."
