I use R, Python, SQL and SPSS to make data accessible and understandable. I have created strong relationships within the Assessor’s office and county, and I provide outstanding customer service by listening to user needs and developing targeted, sustainable data solutions that support decision-making. I enjoy helping people leverage and interpret data. I help create statistical models to mass appraise properties within Boulder County. With my hands in all parts of the data cycle, from collection and structure, to processing, maintenance, and analysis, I understand and work to improve many interdependent processes. I provide ongoing technical support, education, and mentorship on data tools, analytic methods, and best practices. I do these things because it is important to me that my coworkers/the public understand the tools and data available to them so they can be better advocates for the public/themselves. I also get feedback on how I can support others better!Recent projects include…- Created and currently maintain dashboards for internal use to manage workload and support data cleanup.- Translating our statistical models from SPSS to Python to provide a deeper understanding of processes and results, and for possible future system change.- Respond to public data requests and Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) requests.- In late 2019 I was selected to represent the Assessor’s office in the Census Complete Count Working Group. The Working Group was made up of Community Leaders and functioned to promote the 2020 Census.

Supported over 50 databases in Essbase financial reporting system by ensuring processes and data loads ran as expected; reacted quickly and had to troubleshoot when loads or processes did not run as expected. Supported 300+ international users across groups including Business Finance, Accounting, Sales, Field Operations, and Audit by troubleshooting data questions/issues, understanding reporting needs and providing solutions, and maintaining database access. Proactively ensured data quality by reconciling to the source; researched and contacted data owners with information when there were issues. Automated and maintained monthly processes through UNIX ksh scripting; optimized load times and processes as more data was added. Wrote and updated SQL queries to pull data through ksh scripts and ad-hoc queries as requested. Trained and continue to mentor another member of our team. Consistently prioritized to quickly changing needs.

Reviewed and analyzed client’s and opposing parties’ documents determining whether substantial legal issues, work product and attorney-client privilege existed.

Attended briefings, wrote talking points and Dear Colleagues, and analyzed pending legislation to discuss with legislative staff and advise the Congressman; issues included trade, education, border security and LGBT rights. Attending Rules committee hearings and pre-committee meeting with the Congressman. Provided constituent services including answering phones, guiding Capitol tours, and processing and responding to mail.

Tracked legislation and attended Committee Hearings for clients including patient groups and provider health plans. Designed, wrote, and edited online “toolkit” to assist patients with understanding types of health insurance, their rights regarding health insurance, and how to appeal denials of coverage.

Researched and analyzed issues in Health Law: wrote talking points on the effect of the Affordable Care Act on Medicare and Medicaid, drafted comment paper on the impact of the Health Care Quality Improvement Act, and provided information for class on Health Information Technology.

Advocated for low income clients for health insurance benefits in state exchange; worked closely with Medicaid. Served as Guardian Ad Litem for troubled youth; advocated for access to state and federal programs. Researched and analyzed intersection of state and national Mental Health Parity Acts. Represented HLA in committee of national advocacy organizations that tracked progression of national health reform.
