I own a Woman Owned Small Business called Blue Pinecone Consulting that specializes in career and leadership coaching, workshop and training creation and facilitation and communication skill development. I love helping those in transition especially given the number of life and career transitions I've had myself as a military spouse and third-culture kid. The intersection of communication, career development, and transitioning service members, teachers and other public servants are some of my sweet spots. Getting to put it all together into a workshop—that's my heaven. My story: I started in HR fostering relationships with hundreds of talent acquisition professionals across the country when I started writing for Innerloop, a DJ startup magazine. That's when I realized my knack for writing and communications. After graduating from Columbia University's J-School, I launched my journalism career. For 14 years I worked as a full-time and freelance writer, editor, website editor, and communications consultant. I was published in hundreds of news outlets like the Associated Press, Fast Company, Huffington Post, Mental Floss, Northern Virginia Magazine, Houston Chronicle, and St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I worked at the Boston Phoenix, AOL's Patch, Red Herring and SourceMedia. I developed communication plans and content for places like the National Education Environmental Foundation, Pan American Health Foundation, and Raffa Inc. During this time I also grew a family as a military spouse. Once back in D.C., I focused less on journalism and more on content marketing and then moved on to career development. I have created and produced conferences, career development workshops and career centers. Some of my favorite were the Capital Coaches Conference with DC ICF Metro Chapter, the Troops to Trainer workshops at the USO on Ft. Belvoir, and the ATD Career Center. I also edited and help write the book, Teachers to Trainers and wrote a workbook "Take Charge of Your Career Path." I also created and hosted a talent development podcast The Accidental Trainer. I left my director level role in April 2023 to start my own LLC. I am an ICF credentialed coach and facilitator who works with numerous consulting firms. I love coaching people in leadership, rising managers and those in career transition. I am also the host of the TV Show Job Hunt DC. When I'm not working, I can be found throwing dance parties in my pasta-riddled kitchen with my three daughters and hilarious USAF disabled veteran husband.
