After a 23-year-stint in central communications at Michigan State University, I returned to congressional service to work as a scheduler for Sen. Debbie Stabenow in 2022. Prior to my time at MSU, I previously spent 11 years working for members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives doing community relations and casework and have an understanding of legislative and government agency work.During my first tenure working for Congress, I regularly communicated health care legislation and policy to stakeholders and communities. Additionally, I served as a manager of constituent casework and often represented the members at public speaking events.Currently, as deputy scheduler, I am responsible for coordinating scheduling requests, assignments, details, timelines, materials and more for the senator on a daily basis. I also do advance work at events and accompany her at statewide appearances and pitch in wherever I am needed.Since the senator's decision to retire, I have led efforts and coordinated a number of tasks related to her office closure, including inventory; cataloging and archival of awards, keepsakes, records etc.; event planning and more. I spent time in five state offices and multiple trips to Washington, D.C. to organize efforts. At MSU, I was the director of audience development for the central communications office and editor of the university's central news site, MSUToday, which I helped launch, along with the MSUToday Weekly email that I created. I collaborated with other professionals in University Communications and across the university to advance the MSU brand. I am an excellent public speaker and presenter in any forum. I used a multitude of systems to plan, create, communicate and analyze data.I am a senior public service, public relations and communications professional with broad experience in brand-aligned storytelling, brand management, strategic content integration, audience development, data-driven content planning and development, writing and editing, media relations, marketing communications, social media, project management, leading others, mentoring, government service, casework, speechwriting, public speaking, scheduling and more.I have often been referred to as a"Swiss Army knife." I am skilled at adapting to rapidly changing priorities and learning new technology and systems in a fast-paced environment.With a degree in psychology and a minor in communications, experience in higher education and government service, I possess a unique blend of skills, experience and knowledge.
