About Lisa Murray

I am a dedicated individual having insights regarding collecting and assessing data to identify and evaluate potential business growth opportunities, optimizing revenue, and forecasting profits. Moreover, I'm a relentless learner and an exceptional problem solver. Throughout my career, I've excelled in every role I've taken on. I entered the workforce fresh out of college with a math degree and zero programming experience. Determined to make an impact, and I quickly immersed myself in a job training program where I learned how to code to the highest standards. My journey has been marked by a remarkable ability to adapt and thrive in challenging environments. I've been entrusted with supervisory roles early on, thanks to my natural aptitude for team leadership and my ability to connect with colleagues. I rapidly acquired deep industry knowledge, thanks in part to my upbringing in a family business, which allowed me to comprehend the business side of things effortlessly. I possess a unique knack for grasping the big picture and identifying opportunities for process improvements. When I took a career break to open my piano studio, I channeled the same focus and love of learning into creating a thriving business. I taught music, managed the administrative aspects, and accompanied local school choirs and instrumentalists. My students started winning accolades in adjudications and festivals. During a challenging period when our son was diagnosed on the autism spectrum, my husband and I became fierce advocates for his education and therapy. I went through IEP training and also became a WA Certified Peer Counselor. To further enhance my data analysis skills, I enrolled in Data Science courses online and, with my management consulting background, I saw the potential of big data analytics in shaping industries and policies. In the last few years, I've learned R, Python, and refreshed my math and statistical skills. I've also earned four Microsoft Azure and Power BI certifications in just six months to gain a deeper understanding of modern big data cloud platforms.I'm a quick learner, adapting to new concepts, programming languages, and software packages with ease. My rich understanding of how businesses and industries operate, coupled with my lived experiences, equips me to help solve complex problems.Let's connect and explore how my expertise can contribute to your organization's success.Core Competencies: Data Analysis & Processing | Team Leadership | Big Data Analytics | Data-driven Decision-MakingEmail: murraylisa8544@gmail.com

    Tech Specialist
    Apple Oct 2023 - Present
    Tukwila, Washington, United States
I was fortunate in getting a permanent part-time position at Apple. I was interviewing for a seasonal sales position but I was offered the opportunity to interview for a technical position that was also open. Being hired directly into working at the Genius Bar and being new to Apple came with a steep learning curve and I was up to the challenge. In my short tenure as a Technical Specialist, I have not only learned how to triage hardware and software issues on customer Apple devices, but, utilizing the business and leadership acumen I have gained over the course of my career, I have also quickly learned the processes of the Apple Store and its business. Told that I am "one of the most knowledgable Genius Bar team members" as it pertains to store operations, I have become versatile in my role so that I can seamlessly shift roles and work on other teams when needed. Feedback from customers have been nothing but positive and I feel fortunate to be able to make what could be a stressful visit to the Genius Bar as informative and enjoyable as possible.
  • Mynilpay
    Consultant
    Mynilpay Sep 2023 - Jan 2024
    Seattle, Washington, United States
While looking for employment, a former consulting colleague connected me with this software company, and I was able to provide pro bono part-time management consulting services. I reviewed and researched Zendesk tickets to identify software bugs and/or process improvements and assisted in testing and analyzing financial transactions to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. While short-lived due to my being hired at Apple, this experience helped me to gain my footing back in the IT consulting world and experience in an Agile environment.
  • Mattinata Music & Arts
    Independent Music Professional/Teacher
    Mattinata Music & Arts Aug 2003 - Oct 2023
    Seattle, Washington, United States
During my career break, I embarked on a truly transformative journey, one that ignited a fire within me and set me on a path I had never imagined. I took a leap of faith and established my very own piano studio with only four students lined up. Within a few short months, my studio had over twenty students. Teaching became my calling and my purpose, and I shared my love for music with diverse clientele ranging from wide-eyed children to enthusiastic adults, and even individuals with special needs. I embraced the challenge of being a business owner, taking on the responsibility of overseeing all aspects of administration. I was very successful as a music teacher. I cultivated the talents of exceptional students, guiding them to receive awards in adjudications and festivals, and I enjoyed contributing to the community by accompanying school and church choirs, performing solo and duo recitals, accompanying soloists, and participating in other musical ensembles. My involvement in the Seattle Music Teachers Association (SMTA) allowed me to connect with fellow musicians, and I served on the board for many years. Always a tech geek, I created a custom CRM database to monitor student progress and my music score inventory, as well as tracking performance/business opportunities. My success as a teacher and having an established business structure allowed me to establish a Classical Conversations homeschool group which I directed for three years (2013-2016) while continuing to teach piano. We had up to 64 students at any given time as well as 8 parent-teachers. I did all planning and administrative work for the group. This experience not only enriched my professional life but also deepened my connection to the world of music. While I am currently not working as a piano teacher, I know I will do it again.
  • Catholic Community Services Of Western Washington
    Family Support Specialist
Catholic Community Services Of Western Washington Mar 2020 - Sep 2022
    Everett, Washington, United States
In this position, I had the opportunity to work with low-income families in Snohomish County, WA, who are navigating the daunting terrain of critical mental health challenges and behavioral issues in their children. It's not just about offering support; it's about empowering caregivers with a toolkit of expertly crafted parenting skills. I helped to guide them through the maze of legal and financial concerns, ensuring that they not only find answers but also regain a sense of control and hope. These journeys are intensely personal, and my role was to walk alongside caretakers as they tackled these complex challenges head-on. As part of my role on a Wraparound with Intensive Services (WISe) team, I attained a certification as a Washington State Certified Peer Counselor and learned effective conflict management and communication skills. I also passed an exam (CANS) that allowed me to screen youths for the program. Due to the small size of our team, I was allowed to take part in the on-call rotation, providing after hours support to the families we served. The reason I joined a WISe team is because our family had received these services in another WA state county when our child was younger. When the opportunity arose to work on a team, I jumped at the opportunity to give back to the community. I loved this job but, unfortunately, our program was shut down due to staffing issues.
  • The Regence Group
Assistant Director, Data Conversion & Functional Architecture
The Regence Group Jun 2000 - Jul 2003
    Seattle, Washington, United States
During this role, I took the reins of personnel management, overseeing every facet with a firm hand, from staffing and scheduling to conducting performance evaluations and, when necessary, handling disciplinary actions. But that was just the beginning. I was in the trenches, collaborating closely with influential business and technical leaders to orchestrate high-impact design and strategy sessions. We built a formidable team of systems and business analysts, channeling their expertise into comprehensive analyses of project requirements and scope. I led a team of talented individuals to identify and build the conversion strategy and processes to implement a new claims, membership, and provider system for four states. Team members also designed and tested the custom conversion programs that needed to be written. When needed, I put on my technical hat and wrote scripts and SQL queries. This is an example of my management style--I work alongside my team when needed. If they have to work late, so do I.

    Various Companies Jan 1990 - Jun 2000
    Seattle, Washington, United States
My journey through various companies and diverse positions has been an exhilarating tapestry of growth and innovation. Sometimes I was an employee, but most of the time I was a consultant. As a Project Manager, I took the helm of a pivotal Y2K Readiness Project for a health insurance client, where I conceptualized and meticulously crafted a bespoke compliance testing environment for their complex mainframe claims system. As Director of Applications for a Supply Chain Management Software Company, I orchestrated comprehensive management of timelines, budgets, and staffing allocation for enterprise software releases and bug fixes. As a Project Manager for a Healthcare Informatics Company, my journey delved into the intricate realm of data analysis to conduct comprehensive statistical analysis on hospital discharge billing data to provide service efficacy reports to client hospitals. As a versatile Consultant, I thrived on complexity. I worked on network management systems, talking to telephony equipment and analyzing streaming alarm data for national and international cellular companies as well as Federal government departments. I helped to design custom add-on features to a point-of-sales system for a retail client. I wrote QA and test scripts for a finance and accounting system for a telecom client. What set me up for success was that, at the beginning of my career, I completed a prestigious 10-week Systems Engineering Development (SED) program. Not only did I graduate from the program but I was appointed as an Assistant Instructor for the next term, an honor given to only two graduates each term. The foundation in data processing and programming that I gleaned in this high-stress, competitive program has been key to my ability to rapidly learn new programming languages.
