I was born curious. Even as a child, I was drawn to the unusual, and growing up on a farm provided the perfect environment for endless experimentation.Through the years, I have uncovered my love for factual information and especially savored the thrill of that occasional surprising insight - that is often not clear to the consumer or client themselves.Basically, I take an interesting marketing problem and offer an information based solution.I started out working at research agencies and it was then that I understood something I continue to treasure - that data no matter how robust, is useless, unless it clearly tells your client what they can actually do to improve their present business situation.I found working on the client side an extremely satisfying experience. Now a project was not just an isolated of work but it was linked to an organization’s focus, actively contributed to its decision making, factored into the planning process and hence, clearly impacted business growth and profitability. With research information, I have supported particular brands from idea conception, product development and brand positioning through to launch. Post launch, I have monitored key metrics such as awareness, adoption, product quality and distribution to bring them to a position of high brand loyalty and strong equity. In the last two decades, I have competently managed the entire research process for a wide range of multi sectoral projects across Sub Sahara Africa. My incorporation of relevant consumer trends, market sector dynamics and macroeconomic indicators has been key to guaranteeing proper perspective. Overall, I have seen companies successfully launch products, optimize portfolios, increase distribution, improve competitiveness, expand their loyal consumer base, reverse their negative corporate image amongst other outcomes.Outside of research, I have been actively involved in the education and distribution of affordable solar products to lower income rural households. To achieve critical mass and ensure reasonable up take, I worked with countrywide women group networks and facilitated funding for groups. It was extremely exciting to know that children in these homes would grow up healthier and have the opportunity to extend their studies in the evening.I have also been involved in the manufacture of industrial biomass briquettes which are increasingly replacing hazardous fuels like coal in manufacturing. This product is eco-friendly due to its binderless technology which minimizes the emission of harmful fumes during combustion.
