As the Associate Dean of Research & Public Services, Lisa leads a team of twenty-five librarians and staff dedicated to shaping the libraries’ services for students and faculty, creating programs and partnerships that enhance and support research, and ensuring that the libraries are integrated into teaching and learning, research, and publishing at William & Mary. She leads and manages the public services, spaces, partnerships, and library operations for W&M Libraries. As a member of the leadership team, she takes part in decisions for a $10 million dollar library budget and independently manages a $400,000 technology budget as well as multiple endowments. She manages library capital construction planning and projects as well as the physical building. Lisa is committed to fostering an environment where diversity, inclusion, access, and equity are viewed as fundamental to our mission and integral to our service model on campus and in the broader community. She strives to ensure the libraries create a climate of belonging, which promotes self-agency, participation, collaboration, and innovation. Lisa is engaged in campus service through task forces and committees and serves as a Title IX advisor and has served as an administrative member for Community Values and Restorative Practices. Lisa is active in ALA and ACRL and has published on topics related to library leadership, campus collaboration, assessment, distance education and information literacy. Before coming to W&M, Lisa was a librarian at the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC) libraries. There she was the Head of Access Services where she led a team of 16 staff in 4 departments. Prior to this appointment, Lisa was the Distance Education Librarian at UNCC. In her first academic position, Lisa was a research & instruction librarian at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Florida's School of Information and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Rutgers College at Rutgers University. Lisa has taught credit courses in research and information literacy at the University of South Florida as well as the University of Maryland Global Campus. In 2016 she participated in Harvard University’s Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians. Outside of work, Lisa is a certified Virginia Master Naturalist and birder, and volunteers her time on environmental and citizen science projects.
