• Evaluated a new highly sensitive rapid diagnostic test for malaria and measured the asymptomatic malaria burden in Zambezi Region, Namibia by leading the implementation of a 4,300+ participant cross-sectional study. Duties included: o Developing the study design and protocol, sampling frame, informed consent forms, data collection tools, questionnaires, database, and training materials o Creating and managing the $630,000 USD study budget and the 18 month study timeline and ensuring that all activities are completed within time and budget o Managing the hiring, training, and field activities of a 22-member team o Coordinating partner organization activities, securing Material Transfer Agreements, sub-contracts, and IRB approval, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure study success• Identified innovative malaria elimination strategies in low transmission settings by managing a phase III cluster randomized controlled trial in Swaziland measuring the effectiveness and feasibility of reactive focal presumptive treatment versus reactive case detection. Duties included: o Supervising study implementation and adherence to protocol by liaising with partner organizations and through bimonthly site visits o Overseeing Institutional Review Board (IRB) renewal and modifications, partner sub-contracts, and study budget totaling $1.5 million USD o Analyzing study data, producing interim reports, and writing scientific manuscripts
