Staff Development And Training Coordinator
CurrentDesign and implement education and development programs for EPFL staff. Meet with managers to determine individual development and education needs and create ongoing programs for staff and ensure educational resources are available to all staff.Interpret and implement state policies regarding certification and continuing education credits for all librarians and library associates, and serve as a line of communication between the staff and the Department of Education and the Maryland State Library. Meet with newly hired/promoted librarians and library associates to discuss certification requirements, guidelines, and procedures. Monitor and approve all expenses relating to the three budgets assigned to Staff Development and Training Office. Review all funding requests for external educational programs, and approve or deny based on adherence to approved criteria. Ensure that expenses reflect training needs and support of the library’s strategic plan.Create, plan, and execute bi-annual Staff Development Day, and chair supporting committee. Select appropriate site, design training program for the day, negotiate with vendors and trainers, approve all related expenses, oversee registration, and respond to any concerns on the day.Serve on library and statewide administrative and service committees as appropriate, maintain strong working relationships with library coordinators statewide and implement projects created by statewide coordinators group and/or Department of Education.Promote the SD&T Office through various forms of communication including email and the learning blog. Share educational opportunities and information via social media such as Twitter and Linkedin. Work with library staff to promote professional development of staff as part of annual review processSupervise Development and Training Assistant, provide feedback on performance, complete annual review and work plan.
