Provided diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning implementation and discharge planning for stroke/spinal cord/brain injury adult population. Treatment areas included aphasia, apraxia, cognitive-communication impairment, dysarthria, voice disorders, fluency disorders and dysphagia. Assumed responsibility for case load starting with co-treatment of 2-3 patients; transitioned to independent treatment of full caseload (11-13 patients) over the course of the practicum. Responsibilities included:Documentation for all evaluation and treatment sessions. Communication of information to family and caregivers regarding patient diagnosis and treatment.Participated in physician team meetings and communication with physical therapy, occupational therapy and nursing departments. Practicum Highlights:Utilizing Language Line interpreter services and augmentative and alternative communication to provide cognitive, language and dysphagia treatment to a multicultural population Participated in VSS. Prepped various solids and liquids with barium powder/paste/liquid and administered to patients. Assisted in determining results and treatment protocol based on VSS.

Provided individual diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning implementation for adult clients with both right and left CVAs. Executed treatment plans focused upon increasing orientation, short-term memory and word retrieval skills, reading and visual processing and compensatory strategies to more effectively communicate and participate in activities of daily life.Provided individual therapy for pediatric clients with CVA, articulation and prosody disorders. Executed treatment plans focused on increasing oral motor functioning with phonation, pragmatic and language skills. Completed parental conferences at the onset and conclusion of the semester in addition to updates following each session. Co-led early intervention and pre-school groups for clients with language delay, articulation and language disorders, and pragmatic deficits. Administered diagnostic and re-evaluation assessments to children and adults presenting with articulation, oral motor, pervasive developmental disorders, prosodic and language disorders.
