Sellers and Company Architects is a design build firm that assumes the responsibility of designing custom residences and commercial spaces as well as constructing them. At Sellers and Company I learned how to build the structures we were designing. Learning the building process aids the architect in designing overall buildings and details that are not only architecturally cohesive but also efficient to construct. The projects I was involved with varied from a concrete house called “The Archy Bumker”, an earth brume garage, and a custom lake house called “Forkview”. My partner and I were the project managers for “Forkview” in Wilmington, Vermont. The project is similar to a timber frame house but with trees as the vertical supports instead of posts. We have seen the project from idea to construction. We were responsible for designing, managing and obtaining a difficult variance for a site that is considered un-buildable by today’s zoning codes, the demolition of the existing structure, foundation work, and framing.

Maugel Architects is a medium size firm located outside of Boston that designs residential and commercial buildings. At Maugel I was responsible for producing Construction documents with AutoCad, incorporating redlines, producing presentation boards, managing the product library, and several other office related tasks.

DeWolfe Enginerring is a small engineering firm that services several architects in the central Vermont area. At DeWolfe I was responsible for producing shop drawings and structural drawings for residential and commercial buildings using AutoCAD. The experience I gained at DeWolfe engineering influenced me think about the structure of my designs as early as the conceptual stages.
