Functional medicine is the practice of addressing underlying causes of disease, rather than simply treating symptoms. As a functional nutritionist, I partner with clients to detect and remedy nutritional deficiencies and food intolerances and sensitivities, all of which can contribute to inflammation and autoimmunity. Together we work to optimize nutrition for each person's unique health issues and lifestyle, frequently employing elimination diets which are the gold standard for detecting food sensitivities. We also consider other lifestyle factors that influence health, such as sleep, stress, and movement.

I provide in-depth nutrition counseling for clients who are interested in weight-reduction, diabetes prevention, have food allergies or intolerances and/or gastrointestinal problems such as IBS and IBD. My method is a whole-foods, integrative nutrition approach, focusing on the personal needs of each client, with consideration given to appropriate supplements. I also provide personal/group grocery store tours and will help clients evaluate and sort through their pantries in order to put my nutrition recommendations into practice.
