The Bristol Borough School District has a long tradition of providing excellent education to prepare students for vocation or further their education. The school district's first building was built in 1837. There are many alumni who are known for their contributions to their community, country and their careers. In 2009, I was hand picked for the position of 2nd Grade Learning Support Teacher at the brand new Elementary School, Snyder Girotti Elementary School.In this position, I worked in a completely pull out classroom with 7 students with diverse learning needs. Many of the students were not able to read or write. Within the year all of the students were reading on 1st or 2nd Grade level. Their writing skills were also developed to simple sentences and 5 sentence paragraphs.The next year, I followed these students to 3rd Grade, where I was able to use the 3rd Grade curriculum to further their reading comprehension skills and decoding skills. The students once again thrived under my teaching and most were on 3rd Grade reading levels when they graduated 3rd Grade. For the 2011-2012 school year, I was placed in a 2nd and 3rd Grade Learning Support classroom with 21 students with diverse learning needs. Utilizing the Balanced Literacy approach, I was able to teach the students their needed reading strategies and skills that allowed them to be successful readers. 3 of the students were mainstreamed the following year.For the 2012-2013 school year, I was placed in 3rd Grade Learning Support classroom with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs. I used the Balanced Literacy approach combined with the Daily 5 to teach the students reading. The students all increased their DRA levels from 2 to 6 levels. For the current school year, I have been placed in the 3rd Grade through 5th Grade Autistic Support Classroom.

The Pennsbury School District, a safe, student-centered learning community, will prepare all students to achieve their highest potential and to demonstrate mastery of skills and talents necessary for life in a global society by providing a diverse educational program with the involvement and support of families and community.In 2006, I began working in the role of Substitute Teacher in the Elementary Schools of Pennsbury School District and was quickly promoted to the Everyday Substitute Teacher due to the amount of requests for me as a classroom teacher.In this role, I reported to my primary school of Edgewood Elementary School where I was placed in a classroom setting or with the Reading Specialist in a small group setting. Within the year, I was placed in the Long Term Substitute position of Technology Educator and IT Specialist. In this position, I taught Kindergarten through 5th Grade how to use several programs from keyboarding skill programs to PowerPoint to Microsoft Publisher. I taught the students how to Boolean search and how to research for information and use it effectively without plagiarizing.I was contracted into Technology Educator and IT Specialist 6 months later.Upon completion of the Special Education Certification Program from Holy Family University, I was offered the position of Long Term Substitute in a Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 4th Grade Inclusion setting. In this new role, I worked closely with students with diverse learning disabilities. Utilizing Guided Reading to focus on teach reading skills and strategies, I was able to increase my students' DRA levels.I co-taught math in a 2nd Grade classroom by taking small groups of students who needed extra support on different mathematical concepts. I also co-taught Science and Social Studies in a 4th Grade classroom by interweaving my teaching style with the General Education Teacher's style.
