What does all my Coast Guard, Fire Protection Engineering, and non-profit work have in common? Improving my community beyond my narrow slice of life. My Coast Guard career was about offering our citizens safety and security in the maritime world. My Fire Protection Engineering career was about designing buildings to protect lives and property during fire emergencies that hopefully would never come. My non-profit work, be it for Start School Later or volunteering in my children’s school, is about improving the education experience for more than just my family. My grant management for AARP's Livable Communities is about improving communities across the United States for all ages. I enjoy making connections in my community to a larger purpose. When not volunteering my time, I like to appreciate the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay on the water.
