Work across regulatory areas to ensure the digital strategy will deliver what the business needs, help with the investment pathway, provide oversight of technology risks and issues, assist with operational oversight and help manage key commercial relationships. Our regulatory areas include Gambling (casinos and pokiemachines), Anti-Money Laundering (real estate agents, lawyers, and others) and Digital Safety (onlineharms including spams/scams, child exploitation and violent extremism).

Lead a team of four technology specialists who provide complete system stack for DigitalSafety from service desk, laptop provision, to software, security, networking, and storage, and fourinvestigators who regulate Unsolicited Electronic Messaging. The Digital Safety environment is complexand unique as it is used by investigators regulating Messaging (spam and scams), Child Exploitation (child sexual abuse) and Violent Extremism (Christchurch attack 2019).

Led the Electronic Monitoring System (EMS) project in the Gambling Group. The EMS monitors approx15,000 pokie machines in around 1,100 venues across New Zealand. Then led a Digital Safetyproject to procure and implement a new filter Digital Child Exploitation Filter System (DCEFS) whichInternet Service Providers (ISPs) connect to, to block access to harmful websites.

Lead a team of Business Analysts working on projects across the Department which includesPassports, Births, Deaths, Marriages and Citizenship, Regulatory Services, Policy, Ministerial Services,National Library and National Archives. Projects include legislative change, technology infrastructureupgrade, All of Government services, and transformation of customer services. Provide consultation andadvice to senior leaders across the department.

Xero is cloud accounting software, available globally but focussing on core markets of NZ, Australia, United Kingdom, USA and Asia. In the Marketing team, this role worked closely with Product, Business Development and regional leaders to develop and communicate Xero’s Financial Web strategy. The Financial Web includes Xero-bank integrations to help small business owners access bank services within their accounting software.

Inland Revenue (IR) is NZ’s tax collection authority, and one of NZ’s largest public sector agencies with over 5,500 employees. This role reported to the Chief Technology Officer, and involved working across IR to advocate the Technology Strategy and managing a team of Principal IT Consultants providing enterprise architecture expertise for IR.
