Master Internship
For my master thesis internship, I was invited to join the GENOCOV/Depuradoras group of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. I investigated the effect of hydroxylamine on ammonia oxidizing and nitrite oxidizing bacteria (AOB and NOB). Bachelor Internship
During my internship in the Cell System Engineering group, I aimed to introduce the non-oxidative glycolysis pathway into E. coli by metabolic engineering. This pathway was desired to be part of a metabolic network that produces poly-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) anaerobically in E. coli. PHB is a polyester belonging to the group of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). By means ofbacterial fermentation, this substance can be produced out of sugars like hexoses, pentosesand disaccharides.
