Worked on the design and implementation of hybrid dunes in Galveston Bay, providing safety against storm surge during extreme weather events in the future. Together with 5 other students from the disciplines Hydraulic Engineering, Construction Management and Engineering and Water Management, we worked full time on this project.The focus was on technical, social, asset management and political risks and opportunities. The main objective was to provide more specific information on the various options of the design. This helped the United States Army Corps of Engineers to decide on which barrier system to implement. The goal of the IBT is to learn from industry leading companies and visit landmark construction sites. In 2019, the trip was headed to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from November 9 till November 17. The trip was completely organised, including site visits, cultural activities, accommodation, transportation and sponsorships for 30 students and 4 professors from TU Delft.
