Lise is currently studying towards a MMus (Composition) at Stellenbosch University under the supervision of Prof Hans Roosenschoon. After completing a BComm degree in 2010 at SU, she received her BMus (specialising in Composition) at the same institution in 2013. Lise regularly arranges and writes music and/or acts as musical director for various collaborative projects. She composed and arranged music for (and performed in) Vagina Dentata – a Kabarett (directed by Christiaan Olwagen), which was performed at the 2012 and 2013 Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, 2012 Aardklop National Arts Festival and 2013 Suidooster National Arts Festival. The production received five Kanna nominations, including one for Best Musical Production and one for Best Production and two KykNet Fiestas nominations – for Best Musical Production and Best Performance in a Musical Production. Lise was also co-convenor of the New Music Forum at the Stellenbosch Conservatorium and co-presented a series of composition workshops for New Music South Africa.Lise received SAMRO bursaries for composition studies in 2013 and 2014 and also received the Hans Roosenschoon Music Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship. She was recently accepted to study at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague in the Netherlands.
