In Denmark, Baker Tilly employs more than 120 people at two locations in Valby (Copenhagen) and in Odense. As Language Secretary, I had the overall responsibility of the translation services rendered and the establishment of an electronic translation database based on the CAT tools Trados and Multiterm. Besides assuming these responsibilities, I also undertook basic secretarial duties. Examples of tasks undertaken by me are as follows:• Translation from Danish into English and vice versa of financial statements, annual reports, transfer pricing documentation, complaints, binding rulings, letters of reassessment and other documents to the Danish National Tax Tribunal, information on Covid-19 compensation packages available to clients, general inhouse translation assistance, GDPR manual, website news, tenders, etc. • Quality checks, including proofreading, language reviews of various tax memos, templates, and Power Point slides• Secretarial assistance to Corporate Tax and the firm in general, including time management, expense and travel reports, set-up of clients, invoicing, etc.

Member of the Administrative Staff of Integrationsnet – part of the Danish Refugee Council – where I formed part of the day-to-day management being responsible for the reception and attendance registration of refugees referred to us by the Danish municipalities for the purpose of job training and hopefully employment. I was their first point of contact and helped establish a kind of order and structure in a life full of linguistic and cultural challenges. Here I took great pride in welcoming them and meeting them on equal terms with a smile and with the respect I think they all deserved. I did in fact learn all 40 names of the refugees by heart and, judging from their reaction, I did so with great success.
