  Lishe lab works with communities in Tanzania southern highland and other parts of Tanzania to provide them with: 1. Creating community awareness on consumption of high nutritious diets. Through the use of different mass media and by directly working with local communities, we are able to create community awareness on the importance of diet diversification, the art and science of designing a healthful diet, portion size and moderation as well as nutritional and medicinal use of locally available foods.2. Capacity building to farmers and local communities on the art and science of cooking and food preparation skills that helps to keep as much nutrients as possible, healthy recipes and making healthy-use of locally available foods.3. Capacity building to small and medium local food processors of healthy food products such as nutritious meal "unga wa lishe", orange fleshed sweet potatoes products, cereal and grain products, complementary feeding and weaning food products, products for special groups such as elder and sick people, pregnant women and lactating mothers as well as foods for children at different ages.4. Creating community awareness on the importance of environmental, water and food hygiene and sanitation. Capacity building on food safety practices and how local practices affects food safety.
