The major project in my Ph.D. training was the development of a statistical test of association of disease phenotypes with multiple SNPs applying NGS data. In this project, under the guidance of my advisors, I developed the statistical method and implemented it as programs in C, Python and Perl. I also developed programs in simulating NGS data based on disease phenotypes for case-control studies. Among my responsibilities as a graduate research assistant, I supported my lab and our collaborators by providing data analysis solutions specified to their projects, such as data extracting and formatting on NGS data, variant discovery, performing statistical analysis and developing data analysis pipelines on large genomic datasets. In addition to the software I developed, GATK, PLINK, SAMtools and other bioinformatics and biostatistics software are widely used in my research.
