About Lisl Bennett

I have worked in many parts of the nutrition, food and hospitality industries and have a background in engineering and the military; this makes me uniquely qualified to contribute to the develop sustainable food systems.My current role is Corporate Social Responsibility Director and Sustainability Manager at Time & Tide Miavana in Madagascar. As seen throughout global industry, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of CSR and sustainability in business. During this time, I have managed multiple concurrent projects, including a social welfare program supporting individuals who were made redundant, developed and implemented safety and biosecurity protocols to protect our island population and ensured that the company has remained focused on staff engagement and our vital role within this diverse community, all whilst operating on a stringent budget.As a helicopter pilot and instructor in the Air Force, I learnt the value of communication, taking responsibility and self-discipline. My engineering qualifications facilitated a unique role in the acquisition and systems integration of a new light utility helicopter. As such I was involved with complex tri-country negotiations, developing strong systems and people management skills.After leaving the Air Force, I pursued my passion for nutrition, which has since taken me through to hospitality and sustainability. Throughout these varied experiences I have identified the necessity for positive global change. I believe my maturity, adaptability, varied experience and absolute passion for sustainable food systems will effect positive change.
