FOCUS is an international, non-profit, cannabis standards development and third–party certification organization dedicated to protecting public health, consumer safety, and safeguarding the environment. FOCUS offers a comprehensive, proactive approach to cannabis quality management through the implementation of industry wide cannabis–specific Good Manufacturing Practice standards and third–party certification managed through a digital compliance system. FOCUS standards provide cannabis–specific, detailed safety, process, design and performance requirements based on existing international quality and safety guidelines in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, food safety, and agriculture. FOCUS standards and third–party certification are a turnkey framework for federal, state and local lawmakers when creating and implementing cannabis regulations.

When people ask me what I do, my answers range from "what do you need done" to "I turn on dimes". For the past 7 years, while performing in other roles, I have helped clients with a wide range of projects in the cannabis and hemp space. In recent years, most of those contracts have involved advising on policy and regulations in multiple states, working with communities and local municipal governments to accomplish client goals including opt-ins, helping clients assess if they want to become involved in cannabis businesses, government relations, using my large national network to make mutually beneficial introductions, compliance, COVID preparedness, and marketing/outreach.

We did it! Michigan‘s Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol successfully passed adult use cannabis and industrial hemp in Michigan in November 2018! I was honored to hold one of three in-state leadership positions for this campaign, during which I:Developed and deepened relationships with key coalition members by closely monitoring projects, providing information and resolving concerns.Recruited talent for and oversaw the filming of political adsServed as a campaign representative for public speaking events and media interviewsResponded to all inquiries from the general public in a prompt and professional manner.Co-created fundraising strategies, researched and identified potential donors, and assisted with fundraising events

Cincinnati Ohio

Todd Portune is one of Ohio’s treasures. During the 2016 cycle, I managed all tasks, volunteers, and staff associated with Commissioner Portune's reelection campaign in the Cincinnati area. These tasks included: developing political strategy, scheduling and attending over 200 speaking engagements, organizing volunteers for sign distribution and poll work, participating in developing strategy for the Hamilton County Coordinated Campaign, debate preparation, relationship building, and managing a 10 day 100 stop whistle tour for the candidate. Commissioner Portune was reelected and now serves as the Chair of the Hamilton County Commission.

Columbus, Ohio Area

As campaign coordinator for Marijuana Policy Project's Ohioans for Medical Marijuana (OMM) Initiative, I brought together the warring cannabis advocacy groups after Ohio’s 2015 failed cannabis initiative. I then managed the campaign staff tasked with outreach and volunteer signature gathering. Building on my past volunteer work, I developed the strategy for a statewide signature drive and implemented one of the most organized volunteer efforts ever seen in the country. This project was halted after Ohio's lawmakers passed their own, more restrictive medical cannabis law.

Leveraging my experience training and managing door to door sales teams after college, I built a successful sales career in the Central Ohio remodeling market. Providing customers with an educational, professional, and comfortable buying experience I designed and sold residential remodeling projects including windows, siding, roofing, entry doors, kitchen remodels, and bath remodels. I trained new salespersons, developed training materials, and consistently maintained an above average closing rate for one call closes. Nick-named "The Velvet Hammer", I won numerous sales awards and bonuses, setting new sales records while working for one of the top companies in the area.

My duties as an Investigator for Children's Services included receiving and processing reports of child abuse and neglect and conducting investigations of those allegations. I conducted interviews with children, parents, alleged perpetrators, witnesses, and professionals while assessing and ensuring child safety. Working closely with law enforcement, I participated in criminal investigations of child abuse. Often testifying in court, I made recommendations to my superiors, judges, and other professionals based on the findings of my investigations.
