Hello! My name is Allison, and I am a Laboratory Supervisor with a bachelor of science degree focused in biology and chemistry from Birmingham-Southern College. During my time at BSC, I was involved in many organizations, holding leadership positions in most organizations. As a student and a campus leader, I quickly learned how to handle a heavy workload while still taking care of myself. I am a dedicated worker that is not afraid to go the extra mile to get a task done.In my senior year, I participated in independent research with an academic sponsor. My research focused on microbiology. I developed an experimental protocol to test the effectiveness of efflux pumps in bacteria when in the presence of heavy metals. Through this experience, I gained skills in good laboratory practice, critical thinking, and public speaking. If you would like to see more details of my research, the video of my final presentation is below. After graduation, I started a job at Skin Pathology Associates as Grossing Technician. In this position, my responsibilities included accessioning new patients, measuring biological skin specimens, and processing those specimens for our in-house pathologist. I quickly became the highest producing member on the team while still upholding the high-quality standard of the position. In October 2020, I was offered a management position in the Grossing Department. As a manager, I have further developed the department as a whole. I headlined a standard training program for new hires in collaboration with other managers. For current employees, I promoted a cross-training program to future the education of individuals in different departments. I have gained professional development and communication skills and further developed my leadership abilities. These experiences have developed me in to a hard worker who loves to learn new things. I pride myself on being coachable and would love to further my education and professional skills with any new opportunities.
