The Laidlaw Scholars Leadership & Research Program aims to develop a new generation of leaders who are skilled researchers, embrace data-driven decision-making, and believe it is a moral imperative to lead with integrity. It invests in talented and motivated undergraduate students, giving them the knowledge, skills and experience to become active global citizens and future leaders in their chosen fields.Throughout this program I will develop leadership acumen through individualized training, coaching sessions, group retreats, and exclusive global masterclasses, with an emphasis on ethical leadership.In my first summer in the program, I Independently conducted an IRB-approved study on farmer experiences hosting work exchanges in New York state.

Researched the viability of cover crops to reduce tillage in organic agriculture systems.

Supported the Chief Executive Officer in their mission of moving 1,000,000 smallholder farmers out of poverty through creation of media materials, career development handbook, and assisting in the launch of new website.

Studied the genetic basis of disease resistance in corn and sorghum aiming to reduce disease-based yield loss in Africa. Conducted field research as well as qualitative lab tests.
