Responsible for establishing and implementing the Foundation's internal communications strategy, equipping our team with the tools, processes, and approach needed to communicate more effectively so we can focus on the work critical to fulfilling the mission. Partner with program leads throughout the organization to ensure communications to employees reflect best practices and align with overall internal communications strategy.Serve as a strategic partner for HR, IT, and other departments to communicate organization-wide initiatives and announcements, and collaborate the development of key messages, QA, and other supporting materials.Redesigned and launched intranet with broad adoption, allowing for more targeted, searchable push communications and decreasing reliance on email -- helping staff distinguish signal from the noise.

Served on core communications team and helped expand internal communications function. Co-led a comprehensive overhaul of our intranet, launched a monthly all-staff newsletter, and collaborated closely with colleagues of all levels from across the Foundation, with particular focus on HR, compliance, and the executive office. Continued work on special projects, played a central role in developing and updating sensitive and core messaging, and supported our media relations efforts.

Oversaw day-to-day management of and upgrades to cff.org, and worked on numerous special projects. In addition to playing a key role in the production of our 2015 annual report, a redesign of the cff.org megamenu, and serving on the committee working on our new office space, I was also the communications lead on the redesign of our award-winning Clinical Trial Finder and Drug Development Pipeline. These tools connect to the Foundation's database of clinical trials for people with CF and allows people who are interested to search for trials that might be the right for them. This includes the ability to filter by location, age, and key medical markers. We designed these resources with a mobile-first approach so people could easily access them whether in clinic or on the go.

The highlight of my tenure as web manager was playing a lead role in the redesign of cff.org. This project involved working closely with outside vendors on both front-end and back-end components, replatforming to a new CMS, overhauling and loading all content, and establishing content management processes to ensure the new site stayed up-to-date and relevant. Throughout the process, we had to be particularly attentive to change management and bringing colleagues along to ensure there was buy-in from across the organization.

Worked with a group of dedicated and determined volunteers, to improve the situation of women and girls suffering from obstetric fistulas. The same day we filed our 501(c)(3) application, we were featured on CNN.com Health for our efforts raising awareness and funds for treatment of obstetric fistula repair surgeries. Ultimately, we determined other organizations had the necessary infrastructure to be successful in this space; in 2015, we dissolved and instead actively support the Worldwide Fistula Fund as individuals.

Supporting more than thirty passionate entrepreneurs, including a best-selling author, made running my own business exciting and rewarding. From coaching clients on social media best practices – with an emphasis on Twitter, Facebook, Goolge+, and YouTube – to crafting engaging original content that was designed to get Google’s attention, I made sure that every client had a digital presence that was on brand, search engine optimized, and made their business irresistible to their target market. Clients praised me for being “supportive, whip-smart, and oh-so-kind during the editing process” and having the ability “to quickly and efficiently bring [clients] up to speed, giving [them] exactly what [they] needed when [they] needed it, and creating a solid foundation to launch [their] social media efforts.”

Many people struggle to feel heard. This is all the more challenging when you’re a teenager communicating in a second (or third) language. I worked with hundreds of students to help them improve their command of the English language. While much of my time was spent teaching different techniques and background information to help students improve their scores on the SAT, ACT, and TOEFL, I most enjoyed working one-on-one with students to advance their writing skills. I didn’t just want them to get into the most competitive schools, I wanted them to have the tools to thrive once they got there.

Supporting the top two members of the executive staff gave me the chance to understand the varied responsibilities that make a dynamic arts institution run smoothly. I oversaw the administration of artist contracts, edited and submitted grant reports (including those for multiple NEA awards and a $500,000 Wallace Foundation Award), processed and tracked donations, and liaised with board members and major donors.

It was an art history major’s dream when I landed a position at the premier innovative contemporary art space in Philadelphia. The development director took me under her wing, showing me how to prepare grant applications and reports, teaching me tips for stewarding donors effectively, and ensuring I knew the ins and outs of working closely with our prestigious board. The best parts, however, were meeting the artists and seeing their work come to fruition, and collaborating with designers and publishing houses on exhibition materials and books.
