Experienced engineering leader with over 20 years in classical Natural Language Processing (NLP) and more recently Large Language Models (LLM). Expertise in AIGC, multimodal Large Models, big data, and knowledge graphs. Since GPT-3 playground was launched, Dr. Li has been envolved in research in LLM (Large Language Model), and more recently its multimodal AIGC applications, including agent R&D. Pre-LLM era,Dr. Li made NLP work in various domains/languages, using a hybrid approach in industry. The hybrid approach embodied machine learning (traditional as well as neural networks) and symbolic AI, to complement each other. A typical scenario when a project lacks labeled data, symbolic NLP will cold-start the project with the fast development of a high precision system, back off to machine learning for recall. Dr. Li has a track record of making symbolic NLP work robust real-life in industry. He has built four large-scale multi-lingual/multi-domain NLP systems, all transformed into real-life, globally distributed products. He has designed and implemented deep parsers of human-level accuracy in supporting RPA+AI scenarios, in various domains. Previous work includes automatic knowledge graph construction and retrieval for the customer service and shopping guide use cases, multilingual Natural Language Understanding (NLU) in support of Siri-like chatbots, multilingual deep sentiment analysis and public opinion mining from social media big data in the space of social listening. In the early days of his career, Dr. Li won first place in the first question and answer system (TREC-8 QA Track), and won 17 federal grants for information extraction research projects (PI for 17 SBIRs). Applications include big data public opinion mining, customer intelligence, information extraction, knowledge graph, question answering system, intelligent assistant, semantic search, and so on. Published one NLP book, 30+ international journal articles/conference papers. Dr. Li has been frequently invited to give keynote speeches on LLM/AIGC, big data mining and NLP applications at various international occations, including GTC, Harvard University, Peking University, Institute of Software of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Information of Academia Sinica (Taipei), etc.LLM/AIGC/Multimodal-AI/GenerativeAI/Tensorflow/PyTorch/PySpark/transformer/Python/R/BASIC/Prolog/COBOL/XFST/Regex/SQL/PyCharm/Eclipse/Jira/JSON/NLP/NLU/ML/DL/AI/parsing/sklearn/Keras/NLTK/spaCy/Pandas/Neo4j/ PennTree/WordNet/Protégé
