I first joined HSVPOA as their Controller and was promoted to CFO after demonstrating what I could offer the organization. I also wear a hat as Corporate Treasurer. In the last four years, I have provided financial leadership and direction to the Accounting, Financial Reporting, Purchasing, Risk Management, Member Services and IT units. I have identified and turned around under performing areas of operation, established procedures, internal controls, and reporting systems to improve business performance. I have added $2.9M to our reserves and have improved owner equity each year for a total of $4.5M. I forecast our needs, develop budgets, and ensure timely billing, collection, and payment activities to deliver maximum cash flow. In addition, we are in a 4 year stretch of clean audits.

I wore a lot of hats in this role! I led Financial and Human Resources management and marketing strategy for a children, youth, and family services non-profit. I provided leadership and direction to a team to support performance and client service excellence. During my time with the agency, I implemented numerous enhanced processes and procedures that resulted in increased efficiencies and time and cost-savings. One example was improving the financial report process and developing and implementing enhanced cost accounting measures to increase accuracy in identifying our program costs, which were then transformed into actionable data for fundraising. I performed all of the accounting functions, including accounts payable (A/P), donations, payroll, & payroll taxes. I projected our needs and developed and administered the annual budget. I utilized cost accounting principles and GAAP guidelines to maintain our financial records, and developed monthly financial statements to guide our Board of Directors in future decision-making. I also held the role as HR Manager, maintaining personnel/volunteer records and administering benefits. Additionally, I managed our “out-facing” communications and outreach, coordinating fundraising events and managing donations.
