Overall responsibility for several magazines and supplements including Bahrain This Month, Woman This Month, the WTM annual cookbook, The Bahrain Hotel & Restaurant Guide and various others working with a team of editors and writers to produce some of the island's most popular publications. I have overall responsibility for the publications and am involved throughout the process from sourcing and writing articles to editing, proofing and overseeing design.

Launched Food & Travel Arabia and was managing editor for 10 months responsible for editing international copy to meet regional standards, running a team of freelancers across the Gulf and also sourcing and writing our own material. This magazine is no longer in print, as far as I am aware, I left on discovering issues in the management process that I could not support.

Editor. Sourcing and writing the vast majority of the material for this weekly listings and events magazine run to the international standard of Time Out London. Preparing flat plans, liaising with design team and assuming final sign off for all pages. Also working in conjunction with design team to come up with cover concepts.

Having recently finished working with Al Hilal Group, I'm now working freelance with Al Hilal and various other organisations both in Bahrain and other areas of the Gulf..

I worked as editor for TTN Travel & Tourism News Middle East responsible for flatplanning, writing and editing copy, commissioning of freelance contributions, liaison with adveritising. I also travelled a great deal representing the magazine at industry events and providing editorial coverage and was launch editor for the magazine's twice-yearly luxury supplement.Initially I was purely writing for Middle East Interiors taking over as editor in March 2011. This was a steep learning curve, as I knew little about the field, but over several months it developed into something of a passion which I continue to follow closely to this day.

Came to Bahrain as deputy editor on Gulf Weekly, a midweek news/lifestyle/human interest tabloid publication, sister paper to the widely-known Gulf Daily News.Duties included, sourcing and following through on stories, covering commercial issues such as business and commerce, supervising a team of nine staff and standing in for the editor.Ensuring delivery of copy to deadline across the team and proofreading pages.

Initially employed as a senior reporter progressing to news editor and deputy editor on the Bedford desk at the same time as fulfilling the acting editor role on the smaller Hertfordshire desk.Duties included standing in for the editor on this award-winning, hard news weekly paper, organising the news desk, which employed five reporters, turning in my own news copy, liaising with sub editors and photographers and writing occasional editorial columns.Also deputising for both the leisure editor, preparing several pages of copy on forthcoming events such as theatre and music and reviews, and the editor of sister publication MK News, a mid-week paper serving the neighbouring town Milton Keynes and the surrounding area.Within the leisure section there was also the opportunity for producing regular travel features on destinations as diverse as Cuba, the Azores and Australia.As a reporter I was still very much involved with everyday news gathering maintaining a wide range of contacts and sourcing, researching and following up mainly off-diary stories and investigative features.There was also a great deal of contact with the local police force and councils plus people in all levels of business from CEOs to the shop floor and factory gate.In the last year I took on responsibility for the weekly property section and monthly business section and also co-ordinated staff training and work experience placements.In July 2007 I was also launch editor for the company’s own lifestyle magazine, Living Locally, with input into flat planning the first issue, producing the majority of the copy, placing and proofing all copy and sourcing photographs and graphics.

Employed as a junior reporter following completion of the NCTJ one year pre-entry course. Worked on the Farnborough desk where I gained a good grounding in all aspects of reporting from covering councils and courts to daily contact with the police, fire and ambulance services and community groups.Reported on a wide range of on and off diary stories from missing pets and garden fetes to three particularly gruesome murders which made national headlines.Once qualified, with the NCTJ proficiency certificate, moved onto the larger Aldershot desk and eventually became chief reporter supervising four staff and producing three editions per week one of which was the Ash Mail covering a separate area.
