I have a wide range of experience including nursing, health visiting, lecturing, researching (in the field of bereavement) and counselling including trauma work. I am an Accredited Member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor. I am currently a member of the National Bereavement Alliance. I have had two terms as a member of the Childhood Bereavement Network Advisory Group, was Chair of the Bereavement Research Forum, and a past member of the Bereavement Assessment and Evaluation Task Group, and the Bereavement Services Association.I have also been an External Examiner on the the Professional Certificate in Children and Loss (Irish Hospice Foundation), the MSc in Bereavement Studies (Irish Hospice Foundation), the BSc in Rural Health (University of the Highlands and Islands); and the Certificate in Health Promotion (at a number of institutions), as well as External Examiner to the Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling (Newman University, Birmingham).I was on the Board of Directors of the Penn Club in London - sadly a 'victim' of the pandemic and now in insolvency.

Director Of EducationBristol Cancer Help Centre Sep 1997 - Jun 1998This was a 6 month secondment to the Bristol Cancer Help Centre as their Director of Education. The appointment was made in order to 'hold the fort' whilst they considered ways in which this role could be taken forward. It was a rich experience in which I learnt to think more about the inter-relatedness of body, mind, and spirit. I was also able to witness how paying attention to these dimensions contributed to our capacity to heal ourselves.
