I am a mediator and an attorney with a unique perspective from my years litigating, combined with my experience owning and running a business in the pet industry. I left the practice of law for a while to build a family business, GingerLead Dog Support & Rehabilitation Harnesses. It is a labor of love that started by helping my own dog, Ginger. While running GingerLead, the lawyer in me naturally paid attention to conflicts and how they played out, as well as the impact of those conflicts on everyone involved. I saw people in distress in many conflicts and sometimes everyone ended up worse off after spending significant time, effort and money. One conflict in particular stuck with me. It was about an animal that was loved by everyone involved, but the people had a disagreement. It ended up in court and everyone spent significant time, effort, and money. After going through trial, there were considerable negatives for both sides and nobody was happy. After that, I met another attorney that mediates disputes involving animals. As soon as she described what she did, I knew it was something I wanted to offer. It was fortunate timing because GingerLead had matured significantly as a business and didn’t need as much of my time. Since then, I trained, mediated and also returned to the practice of law with the same firm I worked at when GingerLead was created.I offer mediation to help people find their way through conflict focusing on how to move forward with positivity, and creativity. I find that in mediation people can resolve differences in less time and less expensively than litigation. I have mediated conflicts in many different situations including those involving animals, neighborhoods, work, family, divorce, landlord/tenant, HOA, retirement communities, property disputes, etc. Having spent over a decade in both real estate litigation and the pet industry, I have a special interest in mediations involving real estate disputes, animals or people working with animals.I am a Professional Member of the Mediation Association of Colorado, as well as a member of the Center for Understanding in Conflict, the American Veterinary Medical Law Association and the Colorado Bar Association where I am also a member of the Real Estate section and Alternative Dispute Resolution section. I have mediated with Jefferson County Mediation Services and Oval Options.
