About Liz Sharp
FOCUS: I am passionate about reclaiming the environment as something that we are all part of, and reocgnising how we all act upon it. I focus on how people interact with water (incorporating work on water demand, drainage, water quality, and flooding), though I have looked at energy and waste systems in the past. Research projects span the ways that public, private and voluntary organisations, the public and different types of research science are contributing to the changing governance of water. METHODS: I have pioneeded the use of interpretative social science in collaborative research on water system. Undertaking this research in an engineering context has required ‘translation’, communicating the value of case studies and the importance of understanding stakeholders’ perceptions to Engineers and natual scientists more familiar with positivist approaches to science. As well as underlying my teaching and directing a strand of my publications, this work has stimulated me to take a lead within the international community of interpretive scholars to reflect on and develop our impact across disciplines and on practice.
Listed skills include Water Resources, Sustainability, Science, Research, and 17 others.
