I trained in Orthoptics at Moorfields Eye Hospital and then started work at St Thomas Hospital. Since 1994 I have been Head Orthoptist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This has allowed me to lead a team and be part of an amazing multidisciplinary team. I have promoted the MDT the extended role of the orthoptist in Glaucoma, IIH, rare diseases, stroke, macular injections, complex cases and developed the role of the ophthalmic technician.In 2023/4 I was able to serve as Master of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers, the first Orthoptist to do this in nearly 400 years, it is the oldest Optical organisation in the world! Clinically I look at squints, eye movement disorders, binocular vision problems and providing comprehensive visual field assessments service both in the NHS and privately.
