Dr. Liz Whitewolf is passionate about integrating digital fabrication technologies equitably in schools for students, teachers, and other stakeholders in education. She earned her Ed.D. in STEM Education from the University of Pittsburgh where she researched digital makerspace integration in K-12 education, and she founded eduFAB to focus on research-backed digital fabrication integration for schools. Previously the K-12 Education Director for Fab Foundation, Liz now consults with schools, districts, institutions, and governments for strategic and sustainable digital makerspace development and integration for student learning. A 2016 graduate of FAB Academy, Liz opened an educational Fab Lab in Pittsburgh, eventually expanding the program to include two mobile fab lab units in addition to the museum-based makerspace. Liz served as Senior Director of STEM Education at Carnegie Science Center and previously was a classroom teacher and out of school time educator in robotics, computer programming, and engineering. In addition to her eduFAB work, Liz directs the Fab Learning Academy, a project for global teacher credentialing through school-based Fab Labs, and she is also an adjunct faculty member at the American College of Education.

Fab Lab Technical And Education ManagerCarnegie Science Center 2015 - Apr 2018Pittsburgh, PaI was hired before this lab was built in order to develop the space, staff, programming, outreach, and funding for this STEM based digital makerspace. In that time, I have accomplished all this and more. I have developed this lab as an educational hub for the Chevron funded Fab Labs across the US. I graduated Fab Academy, a rigorous 20 week advanced digital fabrication and programming course taught through MIT, earning the title, "Fab Guru." I have created a mobile outreach program (with a 30’ mobile Fab Lab) and onsite programming that has reached over 4,000 students since August of 2015. I developed a robust teacher professional development series based in the intersection between making and STEM. I have presented in education technology and maker conferences across the US as well as Shenzhen, China. Throughout all of this, I have been able to build my staff and volunteer base, continually training the team in order to maintain our mission statement, “Integrating STEM competencies into authentic making experiences for learners of all levels.” Personally, I am the recipient of the Chevron STEM Educator Award for 2016 as well as the Carnegie Science Center Impact Award. -
Project ManagerPropel Schools Nov 2012 - May 2015Pittsburgh, PaIn this innovative charter school, I was responsible for creating, supervising, and implementing special projects and programs for our diverse student body. I served on our Community Campus panel and was responsible for creating new community resource partners and initiating student programs with these partners. I wrote three grants and started numerous new projects for students including: partnering with HERL (Human Engineering Research Labs) for an all-girls engineering project, partnering with ETC (Entertainment Technology Center) to develop a video game design curriculum, starting an internship program, and mentoring the school’s Bots IQ combat robot team. -
Botball Event DirectorKipr Oct 2001 - Nov 2012Norman, OkI produced 30 annual events across the United States and the Middle East for the Botball® Program (an educational robotics program for middle and high school students). These included teacher trainings, student workshops, robot tournaments, public exhibitions, and conferences. I also coordinated and managed the Global Conference on Educational Robotics (with over 500 attendees) annually. Some of my responsibilities included: working long-distance with local coordinators to develop time-line and budgets for events, contracting with vendors and universities, recruiting and training volunteers, developing programming for workshops, scheduling and training Botball staff, and maintaining the production budget.
