Senior Program Officer/Study Director with the Laboratory Assessments Board of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. In this role I lead assessments of the Army Research Laboratory with the goal of improving Army research and development for technological overmatch. Formerly worked on the Intelligence Community Studies Board within the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine's (NASEM's) Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences. Former Director of the Forum on Global Violence Prevention, the Forum on Public-Private Partnerships for Global Health and Safety, and Program Officer within the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine's (NASEM's) Health and Medicine Division. I developed workshops, proceedings, and papers that explored the most salient research and interventions in the areas of global violence prevention, health equity, biosecurity, and public-private partnerships for global health. Senior Program OfficerLaboratory Assessments Board, National Academies Of Sciences, Engineering, And Medicine May 2022 - PresentWashington Dc-Baltimore AreaI am the Senior Program Officer leading the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's assessments of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL). These assessments serve to provide feedback to the Army and to congress on the technical quality of the ARL's research and development efforts, as well as suggestions for expanding their portfolio of scientific expertise and improving their facilities. The ultimate benefactor of these studies - beyond the wonderful people at ARL and the Army Futures Command, are our U.S. troops. They are who I keep in mind every day I do this job, and who I ultimately know I am serving through these efforts. These studies help to protect the people that are protecting us. How could I not love this job?
