Ark Tindal Primary Academy, Birmingham

I have worked at Ark Tindal Primary Academy (Balsall Heath, Birmingham) since it opened in September 2012 teaching in years 1, 4 and 5.In September 2016 I was promoted to the role of phonics lead. I am currently responsible for the monitoring and assessment of teaching and learning in phonics (through the Read Write Inc programme) throughout the school. I manage a team of individual reading teachers through lesson observations, delivering training, assessment of performance and reporting on the progress of children to inform future lessons. I am also responsible for analysing the assessment data that I have collected and inputted to find trends in learning, and liaising with consultants, English leads and the senior leadership team on the findings of this data.In addition to my roles as class teacher and phonics lead, in September 2017 I became a 3rd teacher in year 4. Ark Tindal Primary Academy is a two-form entry school, and the role of the 3rd teacher is to work with the two class teachers to monitor assessment, support planning, coach lessons and model best practise. This year I have worked with two newly qualified teachers (NQTs) to coach and support them through their first year of teaching. As part of this role I have participated in Lead Practitioner training to develop my abilities in coaching, observing and giving feedback and co-planning.My day-to-day role also involves lesson planning, educating and motivating individuals and groups of students and staff, organising external visits and extra-curricular clubs and communicating with external agencies and members of the public.

I worked at Tindal Primary School from November 2007 until it closed in August 2012 (becoming Ark Tindal Primary Academy).During my time at the school I was responsible for the teaching and learning in a variety of year groups through well-planned lessons and accurate assessment. I have also planned and delivered a wide-variety of after-school clubs, trips and events within the wider community and served as staff governor on the school's coverning body for two years.

I worked for Celsian Education as a supply teacher after my previous school had closed. Working at a number of primary schools in Worcestershire and Birmingham I quickly built up a good repretation and was frequently called back to teach at the same schools.After a week of supply work at Tindal Primary School I was asked by the head teacher to work solely for them for the remainder of the term. This role eventually led to interview, where I was offered and accepted a permanent position.

Kidderminster

I worked for a year at Foley Park Primary School in 2006/2007 until the school officially closed due to the re-structuring of schools in Wyre Forest. I taught in year 4 and was also maths lead for the school. This role entailed introducting and monitoring the updated maths curriculum which was introduced in this year.

West Bromwich

I started my teaching career at St Mary Magdalene Cof E Primary School in West Bromwich, where I taught in year 4 for 3 years.I left the school due to moving back to Kidderminster.
