Teacher
CurrentI have worked at Ark Tindal Primary Academy (Balsall Heath, Birmingham) since it opened in September 2012 teaching in years 1, 4 and 5.In September 2016 I was promoted to the role of phonics lead. I am currently responsible for the monitoring and assessment of teaching and learning in phonics (through the Read Write Inc programme) throughout the school. I manage a team of individual reading teachers through lesson observations, delivering training, assessment of performance and reporting on the progress of children to inform future lessons. I am also responsible for analysing the assessment data that I have collected and inputted to find trends in learning, and liaising with consultants, English leads and the senior leadership team on the findings of this data.In addition to my roles as class teacher and phonics lead, in September 2017 I became a 3rd teacher in year 4. Ark Tindal Primary Academy is a two-form entry school, and the role of the 3rd teacher is to work with the two class teachers to monitor assessment, support planning, coach lessons and model best practise. This year I have worked with two newly qualified teachers (NQTs) to coach and support them through their first year of teaching. As part of this role I have participated in Lead Practitioner training to develop my abilities in coaching, observing and giving feedback and co-planning.My day-to-day role also involves lesson planning, educating and motivating individuals and groups of students and staff, organising external visits and extra-curricular clubs and communicating with external agencies and members of the public.
