Work with Program Manager to supervise, train and mentor other live in staff members. Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for Volunteer Guides to learn and grow. Assist Program Manager and Program Associate with the scheduling of Volunteers and Staff on trips. Organize and lead training for new and current volunteers and paid staff. Supervise the upkeep and maintenance of program equipment and vehicles. Assist with on-site risk managementAct as a Trip Leader (Head Guide) on one to seven day whitewater rafting trips for diverse groups of participants. Organize logistics for groups of up to 90 people. Facilitate activities for youth groups ages 9-18. Support trip logistics including food purchasing, food preparation, and equipment preparation and maintenance. Organize onsite staff and execute a wide array of camp tasks. Complete pre and post trip evaluation forms.Navigate class 3 whitewater on the South Fork American river, facilitate group activities that focus on group development, environmental education and whitewater rafting instruction. Teach Environmental Volunteers programs to elementary level children. Work cooperatively with teachers, Environmental Volunteers staff, and volunteers. Actively demonstrate to children a respect for the environment, humans, and other organisms. Participate in kit management and maintenance on a regular basis.

A five month long internship that involved intensive training, including guide school, and swift water rescue training. During this internship I trained to become a whitewater raft guide on the South Fork of the American river, we provide hospitality for participants seeking an escape from the busy Bay. Bring the magic and beauty of the outdoors to people of all backgrounds, underserved youth and people with different types of abilities.

A school year long internship, the Youth Fellowship Program at Environmental Traveling Companions, encouraged young individuals like myself to step out of comfort zones and break barriers. As leaders in training we were expected to attend weekly meetings that went into depth about social justice issues like climate change and underrepresentation of POC in the outdoor industry. On weekends we youth lead sea kayaking trips in Sausalito CA and Tomales Bay in Point Reyes. Public speaking and leadership skills were developed and encouraged to be used.
